Default Which Proffesion

Okay, so im a pretty experienced Guild Wars player believe it or not. Problem is, im kinda bored playing with different characters all the time, and i wanna buckle down on of my characters and begin the long process of title hunting. Now usually people would say, well go with whatever character you like playing the most. Normally, most people would have a easy choice and know instantly what character they would like to play on the most. I dont have that. Thats why im here asking. I have a warrior that has beaten all the campaigns, but i dont really care for getting right in the middle of the battle, getting beaten up and relying on alot of others just for me to stay alive. So im resorting myself to a caster proffesion or possibly a ranger or paragon. Now, ive done some reading around and most of the casters sound very similar in description. Im looking for a proffesion that can sit towards the back, deal some damage, and maybe throw some enchantments up on our team and boost us up. I was looking at monk for this, but i dont really like healing that much... I still wanna deal a tad bit of damage, so i guess monk isnt the best choice for me. However, all the other ranged/caster proffesions seem rather fun to me. If you could give any advice on what proffesion would possibly suit me best, (remember, im looking to start title hunting, HM, elite areas, money making) i would greatly appreciate it. thanks in advance guru

Hmm I would probably go with ranger or experimentalist. Their both pretty versatile, both can deal good damage. Probably easier to find groups with them as well.

thanks for the input scorpion, but 2 quick questions about those. I just looked up the ranger skills line and did some research, but i dont think thats what im looking for. I guess im looking for something that can maybe put more towards the team... idk if im stating that right. Ele's seem kinda fragile as well. While doing research, i came across a couple main proffesions that ive narrowed it down to. Mesmer, Necro, or possibly dervish. I know i said i dont really like to get in the middle of the fight and get beat down, but looking at the Dervish line it seems like it helps give some enchantments and is pretty survivable actually. any ideas on that? sorry if im sounding like a picky idiot.

King my co-leader's main character is a paragon. I don't know much about them since I don't play her much, but from the description that you are giving, sounds like a paragon might be good for you. If you want to discuss it further with my co-leader. I know he won't mind you talking to him about the profession he also has a dervish that he has played. Whenever we do vanquishes or missions or whatever together he brings along his paragon and I love having paragons in my group and NO not just as an imbagon, they are more useful then just that. But look him up, he'll be glad to answer your questions. if you pm me i can give you his ign.

Don't worry about it, you're good. Dervishes can lay out some good damage, and have some defensive skills. Also since you mentioned HM stuff in there gets a bit different. Yeah people say you can run what ever build and your set, such as Sabway or Discord. Enchantments being stripped is a bigger problem in HM. As a Necro you could do really well, a MM is really beneficial in HM. Theirs many other builds that work very well for them. As for Mesmer I'm not really sure how well they would do. I'm sure theirs people that have really nice builds that work well for them though. You might also want to make sure you pick a class that you will enjoy playing over a long period of time. I've vanquished Factions and EOTN so far, EOTN had a good amount of enemies in there, my character is a Warrior as well.

I'm sure theirs many other people that might be able to help you out a bit more with this, try dropping by the campfire section. You can find some setups that people run.

Necro would be good. They've got a lot of versatility, so can be adapted well to different areas. (You would not want to run a MM when vanquishing Kessex Peak, for example. But another form of corpse exploitation may work well there, for example.)

Elementalists are kind of at a disadvantage because in HM, armor levels of enemies are higher. They still work fine, though

I got GWAMM on my Mesmer. I ran a domination build that worked pretty well with Sabway. Didn't steam-roll through much, but got the job done in a reasonable amount of time.

Paragon'll probably be what you want to go with. Very good base damage, midline, excellent party defensive buffs (SY/There's Nothing To Fear is standard Imbagon), Command for offensive support (Go For The Eyes at my current rank gives +86% crit chance, very quick adrenal buildup and synchs well with Vicious Attack), Motivation for defensive support (energy/health augmentation).

Pretty sure the shouts will function like what you want the enchantments to do, and there's several good spammable ones out there. No real AoE damage like casters can do, but still a lot of fun.

I would agree with NBK. Being a MAIN Necro myself as a title hunter I find that I have alot of versatility and can compete with most-anything. Whether it be Vanquishing, Cartography (Hand in Hand with Vqing). Skill hunter was easy to get. I found in most areas Vanquishing (so far for myself all of Cantha and half of Tyria and half of Elona) that an ss build works quite well. I typically run 2necros and a Rt as my heroes.

However I did run a hero mm in Kessex Peak and it worked fine. I wiped once cause I managed to pull a group that was four or five groups together but other than that I had no issues what so ever.

Smiting Monk would be good, but you'd be fairly limited since you don't like healing, thus you'll get ignored by PuGs.

Rit is also good. They're basically a hybrid profession that be very versatile. You can run many different types of builds (RestoRit, Spirit Spammer (both defensive and offensive), MB, and general utility (group buffs, bit of damage, spot heal or two, hex/con removal, etc)).

I concur with the above - Ritualist, especially a Spirit Spammer, will allow you to sit back and watch the show (when you want).

I would agree with Allamorph. The paragon's shouts, anthems, etc sound more like what the OP wants to do with party wide buffs and whatnot while still being able to do ranged dmg.
